Red Flag Warning issued July 18 at 11:40AM PDT until July 18 at 10:00PM PDT by NWS Pendleton OR

...BREEZY WINDS AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY THROUGH SATURDAY EVENING...

.Breezy diurnally driven westerly winds coupled with low relative humidity is expected to continue through the Lower Columbia Basin of Oregon each afternoon and evening through Saturday. Relative humidity will be above critical thresholds overnight.

  • AFFECTED AREA...Fire Weather Zone 691 Lower Columbia Basin of Oregon.

  • TIMING...Until 10 PM PDT this evening.

  • WINDS...West 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.

  • RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 17 percent.

  • IMPACTS...Any fire that develops will catch and spread quickly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.

What to do: A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.

Air Quality Alert (ADVISORY) - expires July 20, 2026 at 3:00 PM EDT

Oregon Department of Environmental Quality has issued an Air Quality Advisory until noon PDT Monday.

For the Smoke Air Quality Advisory, wildfires burning in the region combined with forecasted conditions will cause air quality to reach unhealthy levels.

Pollutants in smoke can cause burning eyes, runny nose, aggravate heart and lung diseases, and aggravate other serious health problems. Limit outdoor activities and keep children indoors if it is smoky. Please follow medical advice if you have a heart or lung condition.

Oregon Department of Environmental Quality has issued an Air Pollution Advisory...in effect until noon PDT Monday.

Wildfires burning in the region combined with forecast conditions will cause air quality levels to fluctuate and could be at unhealthy levels.

Smoke levels can change rapidly depending on the weather. People at risk include infants and young children, people with heart or lung disease, older adults and pregnant people.

People can take the following precautions to protect their health:

  • Follow local burn restrictions to prevent deteriorating air quality.
  • Avoid strenuous outdoor activity during periods of poor air quality.
  • People with heart or lung problems and young children are especially vulnerable. These people should stay indoors while smoke levels are high.
  • Use certified High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filters in indoor heating, ventilation, cooling and air purification systems.
  • Avoid using wood-burning stoves and other sources of indoor smoke if possible.

  • WHERE...Baker County and northern Harney County.

  • WHEN...UNTIL NOON PDT MONDAY.

  • IMPACTS...Smoke can irritate the eyes, lungs and worsen some medical conditions. People most at risk to adverse health effects include infants, young children, people with heart or lung disease, older adults, and pregnant women.

  • ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Smoke levels can change rapidly depending on weather. Check current conditions on the Oregon Smoke Information Blog, DEQ's Air Quality Index, or by downloading the free OregonAIR app on your smartphone.

What to do: * Stay inside if possible. Keep windows and doors closed.

  • Avoid strenuous outdoor activity.

  • Be aware of smoke in your area and avoid places with the highest levels.

  • If you have heart or lung disease, or asthma, follow your healthcare provider's advice.
