The National Weather Service in Spokane has issued a Fire Weather Watch for wind and low relative humidity, which is in effect from Thursday afternoon through Thursday evening.

• Affected Area: Okanogan Valley (Zone 703) and Waterville Plateau (Zone 706).

• Winds: Southwest 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.

• Relative Humidities: 19 to 25 percent.

• Impacts: Rapid fire spread is possible with any new or ongoing fires.

What to do: A Fire Weather Watch means that critical fire weather conditions are forecast to occur. Listen for later forecasts and possible Red Flag Warnings.

Extreme Heat

Heat Advisory (ADVISORY) - expires August 26, 2026 at 8:00 AM EDT

Areas affected: Lewiston Area; Lower Garfield and Asotin Counties

Heat Advisory issued August 25 at 10:58AM PDT until August 26 at 9:00PM PDT by NWS Spokane WA

- WHAT...High temperatures ranging from the mid 90s to low triple digits resulting in Moderate to Major HeatRisk.

• WHERE...Gifford, Lapwai, Lewiston Grade, Lewiston, Clarkston, Culdesac, Alpowa Summit, Pomeroy, and Peck.

• WHEN...Until 9 PM PDT Wednesday.

• IMPACTS...Hot temperatures may cause heat illnesses.

What to do: Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

An Air Quality Alert has been issued by the following agencies:

An Air Quality Alert has been issued for Chelan, Douglas, and Okanogan Counties until further notice due to current and expected smoke from regional fires. Particulate matter (PM2.5) may reach Unhealthy levels for areas downwind from active wildfires. Be sure to check air monitors in your area before outdoor activities.

When air quality is Unhealthy, everyone should reduce exposure. Limit time outside, avoid strenuous outdoor activity, and follow tips for cleaner indoor air.
