The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has issued a
Flash Flood Warning for... Bibb County in central Georgia... Southeastern Jones County in central Georgia... Northwestern Twiggs County in central Georgia...
Until 430 AM EDT.
At 1036 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 2.5 to 4.5 inches in 1 hour. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.
- Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Macon, Payne, Payne City, Cross Keys, Franklinton, Rutland, Dry Branch, Postell, Wesleyan, Skipperton, Griswoldville, Huber, Middle Georgia Regional Airport, Arkwright and Mountain Springs.
What to do: Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
